Thunderbolts Covers

I got on the digital comic bandwagon pretty early, and really enjoy reading on the tablet.  Every time I find a cover/panel I enjoy, I take a screenshot.  Since I found myself with a little more time on my hands recently, I began sorting these pictures (man, didn’t know I read that much Deadpool…).

Anyway, as I sort, I’m going do to some pic dumping.  Many have been used as backgrounds for my various devices, so download and enjoy!

Starting with the Marvel NOW! re-launch of “THUNDERBOLTS”.  For those unfamiliar with Marvel NOW!, it was a re-branding effort done by Marvel in 2012.  I found the highlight, by far, to be the Thunderbolts.  It hadn’t been this good since Warren Ellis’ one year run back in 2006 (that variation had Norman Osbourne as the leader and team members included Venom and Bullseye).

This new Thunderbolts (most written by Daniel Way with art by Steve Dillon) was led by General “Thunderbolt” Ross (aka the Red Hulk).  Team members were: Deadpool, Elektra, Punisher, Venom, Ghost Rider, and Red Leader.  Needless to say everyone (Punisher included) updated to a red uniform.  This run also featured a brief romance between Elektra and Punisher and was a total of x32 issues that can now be found in graphic novel form.  Enjoy!

Stan Lee’s Comikaze 2015 (L.A)

untitled

1st time at Stan Lee’s Comikaze, and one thing to say it was epic. Me and my daughter Kyarah traveled to L.A convention center Saturday morning to join the festive event. We really enjoyed ourselves as we seen around 95% of the people who where dressed up as there favorite super hero or super villain and as well as there favorite pop culture icon.
I give a lot of credit to some of these people who spend all there time making there costumes. Great stuff!! It just made me feel like I was in a giant comic book with all these characters walking around. If you haven’t attended Comikaze before I really recommend it. Here are some pictures I took while I was there. Enjoy!!

Epic Elektra Ending

This final issue of the great Blackman/Mundo run with Elektra was released this week.  I’ve always found Elektra to be one of the most underrated characters in the Marvel canon.  All of the ongoing series have been superb, and the mini-series always fantastic.  The reveal of her being a Skrull is what kicked off “Secret Invasion”, and I found her “Dark Reign” story to be the best of the lot.  Most recently, she’s been featured in Thunderbolts with a romantic link with the Punisher (talk about a relationship destined to fail).

However, this most recent 11 issue run really impressed me.  I do not remember a poorly written issue in the run, and the art is some of the best out there.  Rather than to keep blathering, here are some of my favorite pages from the last year (not not going to include anything from the final issue!).

Pic below was by far my favorite page from this entire run.  As a long time Daredevil fan, it was heartbreaking to read this.  Shortly after this issue Matt moved to San Francisco…

It is a big week for all Ant-Man fans out there.  Not only did a brand new Ant-Man comic book series begin from Nick Spencer (Superior Foes of Spider-Man, Secret Avengers, Avengers World, Morning Glories), but the new Ant-Man Teaser Trailer was released on Tuesday (January 6th) after the 2-part debut of the new Marvel mini-series, Agent Carter. Marvel’s Year of the Woman

marvel women2      marvel women

As we are coming to the end of 2014, when I think of Marvel many things come to mind. The epic events, Spider-Verse, Original Sin, and Axis will not be forgotten. This year also brought back some characters back to highlight their own series: Ghost Rider, Loki, Magneto, and Iron Fist. And lest we forget, we had the official return of Peter Parker back to the Marvel Universe. However, all those things aside, what strikes me the most was the predominance of strong female characters that attract both male and female readers alike. Marvel was keenly aware of the push for female characters. At both Wonder Con and Comic Con this year, Marvel had panels devoted to the “Women of Marvel,” and not just for recognizing the excellent writers and artists, but to focus on the characters as well. DC versus Marvel Comic Books: Revisited 20 Years Later

imageimageToday’s topic is Dc Universe vs Marvel. It is coming up for the 20 year anniversary of the comic book series of the clash of the two universes.  I would like to discuss some of the match ups that I’d love to see if they were ever to come out with another cross-over event between the two universes.  I would also like to talk a little about the match ups in this series I liked or didn’t like or agree on.
